I am so excited about this new form of transportation coming to Disney World! We’re a big fan of the transportation options; the buses, the ferry boat, the monorail, but the Disney Skyliner will take things to a higher level. The latest rumor is that the gondola cars will not have a/c which I’m shocked to hear. The date of completion is unknown, but I suspect it will be complete prior to Star Wars Land opening in late 2019. The anticipated increase of guests for the opening of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is so large that I feel confident that Disney will make sure the Disney Skyliner is running with ease in advance! Here are the Disney Skyliner details… or what we all know about it as of today.
Theme parks involved include:
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Epcot (International Gateway entrance)
Resorts involved include:
Disney’s Riviera Resort (not yet complete DVC resort)
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
Disney’s Pop Century Resort
The Art of Animation and Pop Century resorts will share an entry with the gondola system.
I recently stayed at The Art of Animation resort and took the path that connects it with Pop Century. Not only is it a pretty stroll but you get to see them working on the Skyliner and its exact position. Hollywood Studios is my favorite park and Art of Animation is one of my favorite resorts (because of the Cars!), so I suspect I will get to use the gondola a handful of times when it opens in late fall 2019. My kids are going to flip for this, or at least their mom will. It’s tradition to let them pick modes of transportation at Disney and the boats seem to win. It will be interesting to see if the Disney Skyliner wins over my kids more than the Disney boats do.
I will update this blog post as additional information comes out on the Disney Skyliner. The Disney Skyliner Details shared here is based on information obtained and noticed on the property by myself.
