I’m still talking about our wonderful Christmas vaca but this time I’m chatting food. Our Christmas vaca baked french toast breakfast served Christmas morning was mind blowing. I had put in a request that this be the way we begin Christmas day and it was a genius idea. I ate so much of this baked french toast that I skipped lunch! I took this overnight baked deliciousness outside for a photo opp and although I was freezing it was required to showcase more of our cabin scenery. The topping was my fave. I was such a fan of this dish that I had leftover the next day. Ya. That good.
Christmas Vaca Baked French Toast Breakfast
Ingredients: 1 loaf of bread, 8 eggs, 2 cups of milk, 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream, 3/4 cups of sugar, 2 tbsp vanilla, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 stick of butter
Recipe (via my parents):
Grease a 9×13 pan.
Tear the bread into chucks and place in the pan.
Mix together eggs, milk, cream, sugar and vanilla. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread, cover and refrigerate overnight.
In another bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. Add the butter and mix until the batter becomes pebble like. Store in the fridge overnight.
The next morning preheat the oven to 350. Sprinkle your topping mixture over the bread crumble mixture.
Bake for 1 hour. Serve warm with butter and syrup. Enjoy!
