When my talented friend Melinda asked me to team up for a Halloween themed inspiration photo shoot I was thrilled. Retro is one of my favorite styles and I was amused by the idea of a retro Halloween display. I had no doubts this shoot wasn’t going to rock, Melinda has the ability to think outside of the box and has a knack for adding flair to any display.
Inspired by Batgirl and Catwoman from the 1960’s to 1970’s, RETROween was created. Incorporating details that match the era and the theme was a must. Melinda added jewelry to reflect the thief persona of Catwoman by adding earrings and brooches in subtle ways throughout the display. The black cat eye masks hands down is my favorite element. Created by Design Sponge, the masks were slightly enlarged and attached to orange ribbon.
I had a great time choosing from Melinda’s variety of fabrics. Mixing patterns is something I usually struggle with, using striped fabric as the backdrop and the fun patterned tablecloth as the base made this an easy task. When Melinda shared that she made the tablecloth from her children’s nurseries, costumes and her former maternity clothes I couldn’t help but love it!
Of course a Persona Gift Pail had to make an apperance.
Happy RETROween, friends.
